500 YEARS: subtitle THE AUTHOR OF THE STORY SO FAR

The author of a satirical history entitled The Story So Far finds himself in a prison cell accused of heresy and fornication.  His sadistic inquisitors are supplanted by Lady Catherine, ward of William Cecil, who has been granted special permission to interrogate him by argument rather than by torture.  In doing so, and despite serious religious differences, she falls in love with him and attempts to save him from a grizzly execution, with an undisclosed aim to transport him to a rural idyll where he can continue writing about the Silent Voices and other provocative ideas without fear of persecution.  Does she succeed, and do his writings hold up today, 500 years later?
